The Premier 120B v2 is the ideal entry point into audiophile-quality sound for space-conscious environments. This 2-driver bookshelf speaker utilizes the AL-MAC™ tweeter and AL-MAG™ mid-bass driver to deliver a detailed, immersive soundstage that far exceeds its size. Perfect as a high-performance stereo pair or the foundation of a compact theater.

The Premier v2 features an elite suite of “trickle-down” technologies—innovations developed for higher-tier ranges and now refined for this series. By integrating these proven, high-end components, the series delivers exceptional performance and a clear expression of Paradigm’s advanced engineering pedigree.

  •  AL-MAC™ High-Frequency Drivers: A sophisticated blend of aluminum, magnesium, and ceramic that is lightweight, rigid, and resistant to resonance for detailed, lifelike high frequencies
  •  AL-MAG™ Midrange Drivers: Crafted from aluminum and magnesium to provide the agility and precision required for natural vocals and instruments.
  •  Carbon-X™ Unibody Bass Drivers: Single-piece unibody cones designed for maximum strength and minimal mass, delivering deep and controlled bass even at high volumes.

OSW™ Waveguide

The Oblate Spherical Waveguide precisely shapes output to focus sound on the listening area while reducing unwanted room reflections. By focusing the sound directly on the “sweet spot” and minimizing ceiling and wall reflections, you get a clear, focused image regardless of your room’s acoustics.

Patented PPA™ Lens

The Perforated Phase-Aligning (PPA™) lens ensures all frequencies reach the listener simultaneously, significantly enhancing realism and detail. It functions as both a physical shield and an acoustic filter, blocking out-of-phase frequencies. The result is a noticeable improvement in the three-dimensionality of the soundstage.

Performance & Value

To produce a loudspeaker that meets our standards for performance and value, we took complete control of the manufacturing process, an unprecedented move at this price point. In our state-of-the-art North American facility, we have produced a loudspeaker that defies convention; a homegrown loudspeaker that benefits from innovations found throughout the Paradigm family of loudspeakers.

Crafted in Canada

Premier Series speakers are designed, engineered, and made in Paradigm’s state-of-the-art 225,000 ft2 Canadian facility. We chose heavy duty, non-resonant 3/4-inch MDF, with optimally placed interior bracing, and reinforced front baffles to ensure an audio performance beyond any other in this price range. Smooth front baffles, enhanced with 1-inch MDF, reduce diffraction and improve sound radiation characteristics. You can feel the Premier build quality that comes from true handcrafted manufacturing. Beautiful, furniture-grade finishes complete this new standard of performance and value.

Power & Performance

  • Design: 2-driver, 2-way ported bookshelf / standmount enclosure
  • Crossover: 2nd-order electro-acoustic at 1.2 kHz
  • Frequency Response (On-Axis): +/- 3 dB from 62 Hz – 23 kHz
  • Frequency Response (30° Off-Axis): +/- 3 dB from 62 Hz – 20 kHz
  • Sensitivity (Room / Anechoic): 90 dB / 87 dB
  • Impedance: Compatible with 8 Ohms
  • Low Frequency Extension: 39 Hz (DIN)
  • Suitable Amplifier Power Range: 15 – 130 Watts
  • Maximum Input Power: 70 Watts
  • Performance: The Paradigm Premier 120B V2 is the compact, space-conscious entry point into the revamped Premier V2 Series. Engineered to step up standard media spaces into authentic hifi terrain, this 2-way bookshelf inherits elite, flagship-level driver materials directly down from the premium Founder Series. By replacing the previous generation's plastic assemblies with a rigid 5.5-inch AL-MAG™ driver and a highly advanced ceramic dome tweeter, it breaks the physical expectations of its class to map out an impressive 39 Hz low-frequency footprint. It is the definitive choice for near-field listening rooms, small executive spaces, or high-end desktop monitoring systems where pin-point spatial imaging and three-dimensional soundstage depth must coexist within a tight cabinet constraint.

Audio Features & Drivers

  • 1-inch AL-MAC™ Ceramic Dome Tweeter: Trickled straight down from upper-tier developments, this state-of-the-art dome blends aluminum, magnesium, and ceramic into an ultra-stiff, featherweight composite matrix. This material effectively pushes problematic resonance modes out of the human hearing range.
  • Oblate Spheroid Waveguide (OSW™): The tweeter is structurally embedded within a deeply profiled horn waveguide. The OSW™ controls horizontal directivity to widen the treble field while eliminating secondary wall and ceiling reflections, guaranteeing highly stable off-axis performance.
  • Patented PPA™ (Perforated Phase-Aligning) Tweeter Lens: Serving both as a distinctive physical shield and a mechanical acoustic filter. It smooths out high-frequency transients and prevents out-of-phase frequency nodes from smearing the high-frequency image.
  • 5.5-inch Ultra-High-Excursion AL-MAG™ Mid/Bass Driver: Built from an agile aluminum-magnesium alloy, this low-mass driver features a 1-inch high-temp multi-layered voice coil wound on a ventilated Apical™ former. It is acoustically voiced to extract exceptionally rapid, tactile mid-bass impact while handling fragile vocal textures without coloration.
  • Gen3 ART™ (Active Ridge Technology) Surrounds: The 5.5-inch driver utilizes overmolded thermoplastic elastomer surrounds featuring a specialized Vertical Mounting System. This pleated edge architecture expands linear peak-to-peak cone throw for a critical 3 dB gain in total headroom and a 50% plunge in operational distortion.
  • High-Velocity Rear Bass Porting: The back of the cabinet features a contoured bass-reflex port optimized to leverage rear room-boundary reinforcement, allowing the 5.5-inch cone to travel deeply down to 39 Hz without bringing on chuffing or low-end muddiness.

Streaming & Connectivity

  • Premium 5-Way Binding Posts: Outfitted with heavy-duty, gold-plated terminal blocks designed to cleanly lock onto raw high-gauge bare wire, spade connectors, or audiophile banana clips for a long-term, low-resistance connection.
  • Seamless Timbre Mapping: Symmetrically tuned and voiced to blend invisibly with other Premier V2 models—such as the 620C v2 center or the 820F v2 floorstanding towers—making the 120B v2 the ultimate high-performance rear or side surround channel.
  • Versatile Power Integration: Possessing a room sensitivity of 90 dB, these bookshelf monitors operate efficiently with premium multi-channel AV receivers, though they uncover greater transient timing and resolution when backed by standalone high-current stereo amplifiers.
  • Anthem Room Correction Synergy: Developed to communicate flawlessly alongside Anthem® receivers and power separates, enabling Anthem Room Correction (ARC®) filters to digitally map out and correct for problematic boundaries, desktop reflections, or shelving obstacles.

Comfort & Dimensions

  • Tapered Architectural Design: The elegant, modern wooden cabinet curves slightly backward, utilizing non-parallel side planes to scatter internal standing back-waves, preventing the wooden box from adding unwanted resonance to the sound.
  • Furniture-Grade Finishes: Handcrafted to modern luxury standards and available in clean, contemporary treatments including Piano Black, Satin White, Walnut, and Black Walnut to visually balance into high-end residential interiors.
  • Overall Dimensions: 12” (30.5cm) Height x 7” (17.8cm) Width x 12.1” (30.7cm) Depth.
  • Unit Weight: 16.3 lbs (7.4 kg) each — A solid, remarkably heavy mass for its size category that reflects the heavy motor structure pots, dense internal bracing, and thick face walls.
  • Sonically Transparent Magnetic Grilles: Includes low-profile fabric grilles that fasten seamlessly over the front baffle plane using high-force hidden magnets, maintaining an immaculate appearance when the grilles are left off to expose the intricate metal driver patterns.

Design & Build

  • Heavy-Duty MDF Framework: Constructed with a dense 3/4-inch (19mm) MDF core shell reinforced with strategically placed internal acoustic framework matrices to prevent cabinet walls from flexing under high output.
  • Diffraction-Reducing Front Baffle: Upgraded with a solid 1-inch (25mm) thick front face plane to dampen physical driver energy and dramatically smooth outward sound wave radiation.
  • Prototyped and Conceived in Canada: Designed, modeled, and engineered utilizing the advanced acoustic testing labs at Paradigm's main facility in Ontario, Canada.
  • NRC Research Legacy: Directly influenced by foundational psychoacoustic sound mapping parameters performed alongside the National Research Council (NRC), aligning the speaker with strict parameters for tonal neutral balance
