Samsung QN90B QLED Review

Samsung QN90B QLED Review
The Samsung QN90B QLED TV is an incredibly advanced, premium TV for your home entertainment needs. It is the successor to the Samsung QN90A QLED TV and part of Samsung's Neo QLED TV lineup. It combines quantum dot colour technology with a Mini LED backlight for superior brightness and local dimming. As one of the most advanced televisions of 2022, the Samsung QN90B QLED TV offers the latest features and technology for the ultimate viewing experience.
If you want to upgrade your home entertainment experience in Newmarket, the Samsung QN90B QLED TV is your perfect choice. It boasts the best of both worlds: advanced technology and stunning visuals. Our Samsung QN90B review will help you make an informed choice.
Design and key features
The TV has an almost bezel-less screen. Unlike the low-lying Sony A95K, it has a decent clearance when standing on a pedestal. Suitable enough for a slim soundbar to fit in underneath. The look and design have not changed significantly with the QN90B over its predecessors. Although it is an OLED TV, it is the brightest TV we have tested yet. It even beats the previous category leader, the Hisense U8G series. With the much-improved backlight and local dimming control, the 2022 QN90B is an excellent upgrade over the already good 2021 QN90A.
The one and perhaps the only missing feature is the Samsung OneConnect box, which makes it convenient to plug all your gadgets into the TV. The box would connect to the rear of the TV via a thin wire, and you would not have to disturb the setup to plug or unplug a wire. Well, now you have to! The TV has a wide choice of ports to use, but all of them are on the backside. You may have to move the worlds to plug or unplug ports if you hang your TV.
The four HDMI ports offer up to 4K/144Hz video, ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel), quick switching, and Freesync Premium Pro. Additionally, an ATSC 3.0 digital TV tuner allows access to free over-the-air broadcasts. The TV is a go-getter with its compliance with different standards like Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), FreeSync Premium Pro, low-frame rate compensation system (LFC), and G-Sync. You can use any of the following wired connection options:
  • Four HDMI inputs
  • Optical digital audio output
  • Two USB 2.0 ports
  • One RF (antenna) input
  • One ethernet port
  • One RS-232 port (intended for servicing use)
The Remote
Samsung makes the most functional remote controls for their TVs. Although the form factor follows the typical candy bar (rounded) shape, it packs a punch of features. The absence of a number pad is no longer a point to miss. We liked the ideal button placement and the ergonomically raised channel and volume bars. The metallic touch to the remote gives it an elite look. It does not rely on batteries and is rechargeable via USB-C, making it a neat add-on. The four shortcut buttons to Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, and Samsung TV Plus are conveniently placed at the bottom.
Performance
We measured the Samsung QN90B's brightness and found it close to 3,500 nits in its brightest HDR mode. It is much brighter than its predecessor, QN90A. The Neo 4K processor and Mini-LEDs under the hood make all the difference. The processor reroutes power to bring in an additional 10% light boost. The smooth motion refresh rates of 120Hz make it a perfect choice for sports and action movies. You could connect your gaming console, PS5 or Xbox series X, for astonishing brightness, excellent response time, and low input lag. If you want to up your game, as we did, switch to Filmmaker Mode and see lifelike motion effects.
The TV upscales HD content to 4K effortlessly. The 4K upscaling algorithm in the Samsung QN90B is the best. Even if you are upgrading from a 4K TV, you will surely notice a giant leap in picture quality for your HD content.
Samsung does not shy away from showing off the TV's gaming prowess. They included cloud gaming functionality within the TV with connections to Xbox Game Pass, Stadia, and Nvidia GeForce Now. Play high-res games without owning an Xbox.
Audio
Samsung QN90B has Dolby Atmos to leverage for its claimed object-tracking sound. We pushed up the volume. To our pleasant surprise, the sound did not strain much. You could add a Samsung soundbar to club your TV's Q-Symphony (2-channel, 40-watt audio) capabilities. You could use the HDMI eARC connection or the Bluetooth output for a wireless connection with headphones or soundbars.
Conclusion
Whether you're watching the latest blockbuster movie or streaming your favourite show, the Samsung QN90B QLED TV provides a stunning picture that will captivate everyone in the room. The Quantum dot colour technology combined with the Mini LED backlight provides a lifelike picture that you won't want to look away from. The lightweight chassis and slim panel deliver bright and vibrant images.
Not only does the Samsung QN90B QLED offer a stunning picture, but it is also packed with a number of features. Smart TV capabilities allow you to access streaming services, and the Voice Assist makes it easy to control the TV with your voice. The TV is also compatible with Apple AirPlay 2 and Samsung SmartThings, so you can connect your compatible devices for a truly connected experience.
Buying the Samsung QN90B in Newmarket is the perfect QLED TV for those who want to experience the future of home entertainment. With its stunning picture and advanced technology, this TV is poised to be the centerpiece of any home entertainment setup. For an ultimate viewing experience, the Samsung QN90B QLED TV is your perfect choice.
